A Hassle-free New Year

Earlier during school days new year just meant a holiday, with a usual festive day ritual of new dress, temple visit, rest of day playing and an evening 6 pm movie in Television. For the rest of the year all we cared was to make sure to write the date correctly.
As we grew it was fascinating to realize that new year hits places around the world at different times due to the different time zones across the world. Here is a fun way to see the real-time new year countdown across the globe. And later it was more subjective topic to understand that new year traditions are not the same across the globe and in some places it’s not the same day.
Further growing is when we start getting the picture that new year day follows with the new 12 months. But these days seeing new year beyond the logic of a calendar, there is an exaggeration for new year that many consider resetting their life every new year. It’s misjudged as a time to rush to clean up the mess, but by overthinking on what to do this new year for a better year we just add up more chaos.
If we are towards the last few days of a year or already few days past the new year here is my idea of how we can start positively to whatever we wish to do the next 12 months:
Retrospect past year:  There is a reason why all those social network platforms have a ‘Year in Review ‘feature that pops up during yearend. When you do it yourself you can control what you want to reminisce, pick only those people, trips, gatherings, ideas and beautiful quiet moments you want to remember. Feel proud of all the instants you bravely managed to voice out or graciously chose to stay silent. Being aware of what worked and what dint, Considering the year long experience and lessons that molded us, is a greater wisdom to progress to the next year.
Planning ahead for the new year: There are too many articles on organizing, setting goals and resolutions for the new year universally. It’s not a myth that these habits are going to make us more productive. But if we try to set a goal just because it’s a new year and if we still have no clarity what we want to achieve, it doesn’t make sense, as goal setting is all about specifics and intentions.  Opportunities are throughout the year. We shall prefer to take time and do it when we feel like. We need time to think, not every aspect of life has to be reset, sustaining few qualities is a better way to evolve gradually than attempting to change as a different person.
Either join the biggest party in town or a private gathering with your own community, or a time alone, lets relax and enjoy our new year day and spend the whole year with the same spirit. Breath as you usually do on the first day, first week and first month of the year and gracefully start the new year as not every new year has to make a new you.

Wish you all a Happy New Year.

  4. Yes, we do tend to be carried away with the labels and forget that each day is indeed a new opportunity to become better. Though, first day of the year is special and so Happy New Year !! Keep this space busy for the rest of the year.
